Default Check this out...

A friend of mine in Miami told me about this guy...The work he's doing is amazing!

Quote from the Popular Science article: "a small detail on the engine that he calls ?direct drive.? He claims that his invention makes an engine cleaner, quieter and colder than its internal-combustion cousins around the world?while using up to 20 percent less gas."

12 Degrees Celcius colder. He does all this with a dremel tool.

Also, my friend in Miami is doing a story on him for another magazine, and Somender claims that you can be in 4th gear, 500 RPMs (Yes, 500) and rolling up to a stop sign, almost at the point of shutting off...And take back off still in 4th gear and the car responds like it's in 1st.

i think that i have the pop sci that the article is in..i will look around for it is anyone is interested in reading it.
according to the article, the big auto manufactures were not interested in his patent. he tried to submit to the big three over here and they kept giving him the runaround. i think that he is testing with a Indian company currently or something. it has been a while since i have read the article. anyway, i will look for it around the house.

explain "responds like it's in 1st".

and the "nicks and grooves" that he talks about....

don't tiny nicks and grooves create hot spots that tend to be one cause for detonation?

there is a new trend in big block chevy pistons right now that involves some golf technology. They put strategically placed dimples in the pistons of high horsepower motors and gain more horsepower by being able to run more timing in the motor. I think the numbers were somehting like 10 horsepower on a 400hp motor. (in big block chevy world 400hp is a mild street engine) Just thought that was interesting too
